Dear Students,
Remember that week in early July where it rained every single day?! Ruby and I were stuck inside so I decided to challenge myself with reading a children's book each day. What a fun challenge it was. There is nothing better to me than snuggling up on the couch with Ruby and a book during a thunderstorm!! Some of my favorites this summer were Kate DiCamillo's The Magician's Elephant. I LOVE her style of writing. Her books always have an underlining message and this one was HOPE. Remind me to tell you story of trying to get this book out from under the couch!!
Another new favorite author of mine is Eric Berlin. I had purchased his book, The Potato Chip Puzzle during the school year but never had time to read it. What fun it was to read!! That's the book where I pulled the puzzle from the card I sent you!! I think Winston Breen is a neat kid! I love to read and try to solve puzzles...how about you?
Well....Ruby is looking at me with those puppy dog eyes saying that she wants to go out and play. I think I'll fill up her swimming pool for her this afternoon.
Hope all is well and that you are enjoying your summer!!
Happy Reading,
Ms Broughton

Hi Oriana!!
ReplyDeleteYou should like an adventure reader!! Did you see the new Twlight movie this summer? Would you be surprised if I told you I haven't read this series yet? I almost finished reading the first one but didn't finish. Tell you more on that story later!! Is Found by Margaret Peterson Haddix? I LOVE HER!!
Ruby and I had a relaxing day today. I cleaned out her bigger swimming pool and then filled it back up so we could cool off in it. Then she got so dirty running around the backyard that I had to give her a bath...not her favorite thing in the world.
She's been nominated for Dog of the Week!! Click on the following link and then click on five stars to vote for her.http://www.adogspurpose.com/index.php?option=com_hotornot&task=show&id=316&source=hotornot&Itemid=54
Gotta go feed her.
Hope to see you at Meet the Teacher on August 20th from 3-4 PM!!

Hi Meghan!!
ReplyDeleteYou should like a thrill seeker!! Schlitterbahn sounds like the perfect place to be in Texas during the summer!! Did you ride any scary roller coasters? I used to like them but not so much anymore. Tell you that story the first couple weeks of school!!
Are you ready to move across the building to B Pod and get your very own locker!!!??? We hope to assign one to you on Meet the Teacher on Friday, August 20th from 3-4 pm.
Ruby has been nominated for Dog of the Week!! I read the best book ever (A Dog's Purpose) and then submitted her picture and video and they accepted them...so excited and proud. Go to www.adogpurpose.com and see if you can find Ruby. The picture I submitted is of her sleeping on the couch with her head on a pillow. Then you can watch her Splish Splash video on the Video page. She thinks she's famous now and keeps asking for new toys!!
Can't wait to meet you!! Thanks for writing to me!!
